Bambuu is a Brazilian and Pan-Asian restaurant and cocktail bar at 106 Commercial Road, in the centre of Bournemouth. Fire-grilled Brazilian cooking meets Pan-Asian small plates inside a botanical dining room modelled on Rio de Janeiro, all tropical planting, warm wood and low light, with an outdoor garden for drinks in the open air.
The menu
The grill drives the Brazilian menu, with picanha and alcatra alongside street-food snacks such as coxinha, bolinha de queijo and pastéis. A Pan-Asian menu runs in parallel, sushi rolls, bao buns, gyoza and prawn noodles, giving mixed groups plenty of choice. At the bar the Brazilian theme continues with caipirinhas in classic, passion fruit and caipirosska versions, alongside daiquiris, mojitos, piña coladas and espresso martinis.
The room
The setting is as big a part of Bambuu as the food. Deep greens, terracotta tones and tropical foliage create the Rio feel, and the garden gives an outdoor option on warm evenings. At the weekend resident DJs play Afrobeats, Amapiano and Brazilian funk, and after dark the place shifts from restaurant towards party venue. Saturdays feature a bottomless brunch with 90 minutes of free-flowing drinks and sharing plates, and private hire is available for birthdays and celebrations.
Practical details
Bambuu opens daily from about 4pm until midnight, and from midday on Sundays for its Nosso Domingo sitting; confirm current times on the website before setting out. Booking is sensible, particularly at weekends and for the bottomless brunch, which sells out. The main shopping streets and the seafront are a short walk away, so it fits easily into a day in town.
