Barbara's Bier Haus brings the Alpine, après-ski-style bar to Bournemouth, planting a Bavarian beer hall theme on Old Christchurch Road in East Cliff, a few minutes' walk from the town centre. The bar belongs to a small UK chain built on the same idea, and the Bournemouth branch follows the familiar recipe: steins, beer towers, DJs and a party-first mood.
Food and drink
The menu plays up the theme with 2ft-long sharing pizzas, hotdogs, bratwurst and other Bavarian snacks intended for groups rather than a quiet dinner. To drink there is beer by the stein and by the tower, along with cocktails, cocktail towers and shot skis. Happy hour runs every day from 4pm to 8pm with 50% off selected drinks, and Mondays carry an ongoing 2-4-1 pizza deal. Prices and menus move on, so look at the venue's website before your visit.
Entertainment and nights out
Entertainment drives this bar. Across the week you can expect karaoke, live music, music bingo, quiz nights and DJ sets, plus themed party nights that play on the après-ski branding. Hen parties, stag dos and birthday celebrations pick it regularly, helped by group packages and private hire, so it suits a loud night out far better than a quiet drink.
Good to know
The bar opens Sunday to Friday from 4pm until 3am and on Saturdays from midday until 3am, with hours that can change around events. Bournemouth station is roughly a 10-12 minute walk away, and drivers will find several public car parks close by.
