The Brunswick Hotel, or just the Brunswick to regulars, is a traditional community pub on Malmesbury Park Road, near Queen's Park on the northern fringe of central Bournemouth. Whatever the name suggests, it runs as a proper local rather than a hotel: somewhere for a pint, pub food and live sport, not a place to stay the night.
Beer and atmosphere
As a Greene King house with Cask Marque accreditation, the Brunswick serves the brewery's own beers, Greene King IPA, Abbot Ale and Old Speckled Hen, along with the standard lagers, ciders and spirits. A pool table and an open fire see it through the colder months indoors, and a beer garden takes over on warmer days. With Sky Sports and TNT Sports on the screens, it is a regular haunt for locals following the football and rugby.
Good to know
There is a car park on site, which matters because the pub lies outside the seafront and town-centre pay-and-display areas. Free WiFi is on offer, and the Brunswick's reputation is as an honest, welcoming local rather than a food destination: expect pub classics, not a chef-led menu. Check with the pub or its Greene King listing for current opening hours, food service times and any live sport fixtures before you visit.
If you are staying or spending time around Queen's Park rather than by the sea, the Brunswick is a sound choice. For places closer to the coast, look through the rest of our food & drink guide, or see what else is happening locally in our things to do guide.
