Chickaros is an informal American-style restaurant on Holdenhurst Road and one branch of a small chain that has been spreading across the UK, with sites in Birmingham, Glasgow, Cardiff and now Bournemouth. You will find the Bournemouth restaurant at 58-60 Holdenhurst Road, BH8 8AQ, a little way back from the beach and the town centre.
What's on the menu
Handmade burgers and southern fried chicken form the core of the menu, with the kitchen's signature "Parmesan" plates, chicken that is breaded, sauced and topped with cheese, as the house speciality. There are also grilled dishes, steaks and wraps, plus a seafood section featuring battered cod and crispy battered prawns, and starters such as nachos and bao buns. Desserts include cookie dough and croffles, with milkshakes and mocktails to drink. Vegetarians can choose a veggie burger or a meat-free Parmesan, but no vegan or halal certification is listed, so anyone with particular dietary needs should ask the staff.
Practical details
You can eat in at Chickaros, order takeaway, or have food delivered through Uber Eats if you would rather stay put. Opening hours on the Bournemouth branch's website are 1pm to 11pm from Sunday to Thursday and on Saturday, and 3pm to 11pm on Friday, but as with any local outpost of a small chain, it pays to confirm the current times and menu before making the trip.
For burgers and fried chicken at a fair price away from the seafront crowds, it does the job. Combine it with the rest of our food & drink guide, or fit it into a day out using our things to do guide.
