Fika is named after the Swedish word for a coffee break, and that is precisely what it offers on Westover Road, a few minutes on foot from the Bournemouth International Centre and the Lower Gardens. This was the original site of an unusual local concept: a café designed to anchor a building whose other rooms are let as beauty treatment spaces to independent nail technicians, massage therapists and other self-employed professionals. It opened here in December 2021, and a second site, Crema, followed in Boscombe.
Coffee and the pastry counter
Coffee and tea take centre stage, backed by a dependable pastry counter where almond croissants and pain au chocolat appear regularly, and there are vegan options too. It was set up as a genuine neighbourhood coffee stop rather than a café with a full menu: somewhere for a fast espresso or a longer sit with a book.

You'll find Fika at 7 Westover Road, BH1 2BA, in the heart of Bournemouth's civic and cultural quarter, near the BIC, the Pavilion and the Lower Gardens, with the seafront a short walk downhill. It suits a pause before a show, a detour through the gardens, or simply a passing visit along Westover Road.
Practical details
Opening runs daily from around 7am to 5pm. Dogs are welcome, the shop has wheelchair access, and free WiFi is available for anyone staying a while. Like any independent café, hours and menu can change, so check Fika's Facebook page before a special visit, especially over holidays.
