Cosmo is an all-you-can-eat world buffet in central Bournemouth and belongs to the national COSMO group of "authentic world kitchen" restaurants. This branch opened in 2022 inside the St Peter's Quarter development, bringing the chain's globe-spanning formula of unlimited helpings for one fixed price into the town centre.
What's on the buffet
Breadth is the whole point. More than 150 freshly prepared dishes are spread across a line of live counters, covering cuisines from around the world in one room. Asian food features heavily: Chinese favourites, Indian curries and a Japanese section running from sushi through to teppanyaki grilled while you wait. Beyond that there is Italian pasta and pizza, a British carvery with roast joints and all the trimmings, and Mediterranean and Greek-style plates. Food is cooked in small batches and replenished throughout service, so trays are turned over steadily rather than left standing. Leave space for the dessert bar, where bite-sized cakes, a gelato counter and a chocolate fountain round things off. The buffet rotates and prices depend on the session, so check the current selection and cost on the restaurant's website before heading over.
The room
The dining room is modern and bright, compared by one reviewer to a smart hotel lobby, with lots of room and an upbeat, informal hum rather than hushed formality. Grazing is the idea: serve yourself, go back as many times as you like, and combine cuisines on one plate without anyone minding. Drinks come from a well-stocked bar covering soft drinks, cocktails, wines and spirits, and younger diners tend to be delighted by the cat-faced serving robot that rolls between tables with orders. The lively, family-friendly atmosphere makes it an obvious pick for birthdays, group meals and tables where everyone wants something different.
Location
The restaurant is at 3 St Peters Quarter on St Peter's Road, two minutes or so on foot from Bournemouth Square and the principal shopping streets. From there the Lower Gardens, the pier and the beach are all easily walkable, and buses and the railway station are convenient. It has no dedicated parking, though several public and pay-and-display car parks are nearby.
Practical details
Expect relaxed, all-you-can-eat dining for one fixed price, with lower rates for children (worked out by height) and infants, so a big appetite pays off. Bookings are taken online or by phone and walk-ins are fine, but weekends, Sunday lunch and school holidays are busy periods where reserving avoids a wait. There is step-free access, baby-changing and free WiFi. Vegetarians have plenty of choice; anyone with particular dietary needs or allergies should talk to staff and confirm the current buffet directly.
