Cosy Cafe is a small independent café on Tuckton Road, near the River Stour on Bournemouth's eastern side towards Christchurch. You could walk past without noticing it, and that's rather the idea: it's a neighbourhood place that runs on regulars rather than passing footfall.
How it came about
In March 2025 the café reopened under its present name after Jasmine Pugh took over the lease. She had cooked for almost two years at Mocha Turtle, the previous café in the same building, and arrived with 15 years in the pub trade behind her. Her goal from the outset was simple: a warm, friendly room where "everybody knows everybody." The Bournemouth Echo featured the relaunch as its Trader of the Week, reporting the café "jam packed" and warmly welcomed in its opening week.
What you'll find
The setup is homely and unfussy: hot coffee, home-cooked food and a rotating selection of homemade cakes, some of them gluten-free. Dogs are welcome, and walkers from the nearby river were among the first regulars. An evening games club has been mooted as well, so the café's Facebook page is the place to watch for anything beyond the daytime offering.
Opening hours
Cosy Cafe operates daytime hours, roughly 7am to 3pm from Monday to Saturday, although weekday closing has been creeping later into the afternoon as the business has bedded in. Like any small independent café, it pays to confirm the current hours before a special trip, particularly outside the main morning period.
It suits a break on the Stour valley path or a look at the calmer, residential side of Bournemouth away from the beach. Find more places to eat nearby in our food & drink guide, or add a riverside walk from our wider things to do guide.
