Built directly onto Bournemouth's seafront on West Undercliff Promenade at Durley Chine Road, the Durley Inn is a branch of the Harvester chain and one of the rare spots along this stretch of coast where the beach sits almost right beneath your table.
The food
As with any Harvester, expect a grill-focused menu designed for easy, crowd-pleasing meals: flame-grilled chicken, ribs and hand-battered fish and chips share the menu with burgers and salads, and the chain's trademark unlimited salad bar comes included with every main. Don't expect fine dining, this is familiar, uncomplicated food, and the format suits groups whose tastes and appetites differ. National pricing and menus apply, and they do change, so it pays to check Harvester's own site for what's currently on offer before booking.
Setting and who it suits
Location does much of the work here, arguably as much as the menu. Positioned right on the promenade between the pier and Alum Chine, the restaurant offers sea views from inside and outdoor seating when the weather cooperates. Everything points toward families: kids' menu, highchairs, step-free access, and dogs are permitted in the outdoor section, so it makes a natural pause during a coastal walk or after a stretch on Durley Chine beach.
Good to know
Expect it open daily from roughly 9am, with earlier closing during the week and later hours on Friday and Saturday nights, best confirmed via the website or by calling 01202 290480, since seasonal changes to hours do happen. Mains generally land within the £10-£20 range, consistent with the rest of the chain.
