Fili's is a Sicilian and south Italian restaurant on Penn Hill Avenue in Parkstone, Poole. In effect it is two places under one roof: a brunch spot in the mornings, and from midday a wood-fired pizzeria, both drawing on family recipes and an authentic Sicilian background.
Morning brunch, afternoon pizza
Brunch is served Wednesday to Sunday and favours generous plates made for sharing: the "Full Sicilian" focaccia piled with fried egg, fennel sausage, bacon and a potato croquette, plus sourdough dishes such as avocado, bacon and poached egg with halloumi and basil pesto. Once midday arrives, pizza takes over, with bases of 00 flour, semolina and the house sourdough starter, running from a classic Margherita up to sharing sizes. Vegetarian and vegan options appear throughout, and for a supplement you can have a gluten-free base.
The bottomless option
At weekends there's a bottomless brunch, combining the brunch menu with around 90 minutes of unlimited drinks. This is one to book ahead: tables for the popular sittings disappear fast, so reserve on the restaurant's website rather than chancing a walk-in.
Location
Penn Hill Avenue in Parkstone is a short bus or car journey from Poole town centre and Poole Quay, and the beaches at Canford Cliffs and Sandbanks aren't far either. That makes Fili's a useful stop on the way to, or back from, a day on the Poole end of the coast.
