The name is misleading, Fireworks is neither a display nor an event but a public sculpture by artist Carol Childs, positioned on Commercial Road at the western edge of Bournemouth town centre. It's easy to pass by without noticing it even has a title, blended into the ordinary streetscape rather than raised on a plinth within a park.
What it is
Sculptures, murals and installations scatter across Bournemouth's public spaces, and Fireworks counts among the smaller, less-documented examples, logged in open mapping data as outdoor artwork rather than heavily promoted as a headline attraction. That leaves it more of a curiosity for those wandering the town on foot than a destination people set out specifically to see.
Visiting
No admission charge applies, no opening hours restrict access and nothing needs booking, the piece stands on a public street near where the town centre meets West Cliff, a brief stroll from the main shopping streets and the Lower Gardens. It's worth a look if you happen to pass, alongside the many other attractions scattered around the bay. Find more suggestions in our guide to things to do in Bournemouth.
