Funki Griller is a steakhouse and grill on Westover Road, a few minutes on foot from Bournemouth town centre and the seafront gardens. Prime cuts are the core of the kitchen, with ribeye and sirloin cooked to order, but grilled meats, seafood and a proper range of vegetarian and vegan dishes sit alongside them, so a mixed group isn't stuck with a steak-only menu.
The food
Steak is the main event, served without fuss so the meat speaks for itself. Beyond the steak list, the kitchen turns out grilled dishes and seafood, with a separate vegetarian and vegan selection alongside. Smaller appetites are covered by a "Little Griller" kids' menu, and a Sunday roast with premium cuts and traditional trimmings comes back seasonally.
Drinks and atmosphere
The bar mixes its own crafted cocktail list and serves wines and beers, and a daily Happy Hour until 6pm keeps the early part of a visit affordable. As the evening goes on, live music gives the bar a warm, sociable feel, so it's as good for a few drinks as for a sit-down steak dinner.
Good to know
Opening times change across the week: Monday to Friday, the bar opens at 3pm and the kitchen at 4pm, while at weekends both open at 1pm. Closing times can vary, so confirm them directly before you travel. Two steaks with chips come in at around £30, which places it firmly in the mid-range for the town centre. Tables can be booked by phone, by email or through the restaurant's website.
