Indian Ocean is a family-owned Indian restaurant set just off West Cliff Road, within easy walking distance of the Bournemouth International Centre, a useful option if you're heading to a show or conference and want a curry beforehand or after. It has occupied the same site for more than eight years and belongs to a small local group that also runs Tiien Thai.
The food
The menu blends familiar high-street classics with a few signature Chef's Specialities. Tawa Murg, cooked on a traditional tawa with peppers, onions and cheese, and Nawabi, chicken or lamb tikka finished in a creamy, herb-spiced sauce, are both worth trying. Dishes can be made vegetarian and adjusted to suit your preferred spice level, and staff say requests for dishes outside the printed menu are welcome. A children's menu and a lassi selection round out the drinks list.
Dine-in, takeaway or delivery
Indian Ocean caters to most preferences: book a table for a sit-down meal, order online for collection or delivery, or enquire about the party room for a birthday or other celebration. Its proximity to the BIC makes it a sensible choice around events there, as well as for those staying on West Cliff.
