K-Bunsik is a Korean street food takeaway on Christchurch Road in Boscombe, a short walk inland from the seafront. It isn't a sit-down restaurant: the whole operation is built around quick, freshly made Korean street snacks, the corn dogs, fried chicken and gimbap that have spread across the UK on the back of the K-pop boom, sold through click-and-collect and delivery instead of table service.
The food
At the heart of the menu are Korean corn dogs (battered, deep-fried and sometimes stuffed with mozzarella or sausage), Korean fried chicken and gimbap, the seaweed-wrapped rice rolls that are Korea's counterpart to sushi. K-Bunsik's website embraces the trend openly, calling itself "Bournemouth's Hottest K-Pop Food". Everything is cooked fresh when you order, so think quick and filling rather than a leisurely lunch. Specials and menu items change from time to time, so check K-Bunsik's website to see what's currently available.
Ordering and hours
Takeaway comes first here. You can order click-and-collect directly on K-Bunsik's own website, or have food delivered by Just Eat, Uber Eats or Deliveroo. The published hours are Monday and Wednesday from 12 noon to 7pm, Thursday 11am to 7pm, Friday and Saturday 11am to 7.30pm and Sunday 11am to 6pm; Tuesday is a closing day. As with any small independent business, it's wise to confirm the times before you set off.
Good to know
Because there's no proper seating, K-Bunsik works best as a takeaway lunch or dinner rather than somewhere to sit down. Collect your order and, weather permitting, eat it on the Boscombe seafront close by.
