No.48 Warehouse is a Chinese restaurant and karaoke venue hidden on the first floor of a building on St Swithun's Road in East Cliff, two minutes or so on foot from the centre of Bournemouth. The name is misleading: the entrance is at number 52, not 48, on a stretch of the road shared with several other Asian restaurants.
Food and hotpot buffet
A traditional Chinese à la carte menu comes out of the kitchen, but what the venue is best known for locally is the all-you-can-eat hotpot buffet. Diners pick from a range of broths and then pile in meat, seafood and vegetables at the table. The format lends itself to groups and shared eating rather than a quick meal alone.
Karaoke rooms
Next to the restaurant, No.48 Warehouse operates three private, soundproofed karaoke rooms under the K.rooms name, each equipped with a touchscreen karaoke system. They hold parties of roughly 7 to 18, which is why the venue gets picked so often for birthdays and group celebrations that pair dinner with a private singalong afterwards.
Good to know
Dinner service runs Thursday to Tuesday from about 5pm to 10pm; the restaurant is shut on Wednesdays. Bookings are taken, and it pays to reserve ahead for the karaoke rooms or a larger party.
