The Sensory Garden is a peaceful, planted pocket built around a goldfish pond, set inside Knyveton Gardens where Bournemouth's East Cliff meets Boscombe. Rather than being an attraction in its own right, it functions as a calming corner within a bigger, well-equipped community park, a place to pause among the planting rather than a formal botanical display.
What's there
The goldfish pond sits at the heart of the garden, with seating and pathways laid out to suit wheelchairs and buggies. BCP Council has been running a broader £50,000, Council-funded improvement programme across Knyveton Gardens between 2024 and 2026, and as part of it, a solar lighting column was fitted in the sensory garden in September 2025 to boost visibility and security once it gets dark.
Visiting
Entry is free and unrestricted, with no gates or charges, and the garden shares its grounds with Knyveton Gardens, which also offers tennis courts, a bowling green, a children's play area and a nearby nature trail. It's one of several calmer green spaces set back from the seafront, discover more in our guide to things to do in Bournemouth.
